REGISTER FOR SERVICES
The Disability Resource Center (DRC) at the University of Georgia is committed to providing equal access for students with disabilities at UGA.
It is important to keep in mind that the registration process can take 1 to 4 weeks. The timeline depends on a number of different factors, including the nature of the requested accommodations, the evaluation of supporting documentation, and the availability of coordinators for scheduling appointments.
We advise students to start the registration process as early as possible. Incoming 1st year students or transfer students are advised to start the process as soon as they have been admitted to UGA. Current UGA students should contact the DRC as soon as they have established a need for accommodations. Feel free to watch our “How to Register for Services” video.
Accommodations are not applied retroactively, so it is important to begin the process as soon as possible.
Steps to Register
In order to register for services at the DRC, please complete the following steps
The student application is available online. The application contains a series of questions designed to provide more information about your diagnosis, current academic impacts, previously used accommodations, and requested accommodations for UGA. You should receive an email confirmation upon submission of your application. If you do not receive an email, please contact our office.
Note: If you require this application in an alternative format, please use the PDF version: Student Application Alternate Form.
Documentation is needed to establish the nature of a student’s disability, as well as the academic impact, in order to support the requested accommodations.
Documentation can be uploaded along with your application to the AIM Student Portal. You can also fax, mail, email, or hand deliver your documentation to our office.
Once you have completed your application, it will be reviewed by the DRC Intake Team. If any additional information is needed, we will follow up via your UGA email address. This review process can take time; if you have any questions about the status of your application, you can always contact our office.
Once the review process is complete, you will be assigned to a disability coordinator. They will contact you via email to schedule an initial interview. This is where you will discuss accommodations in more detail and develop a plan for putting them into place.
