Trisha Barefield joined the Disability Resource Center’s staff in 2012. Her first roles included alternative text production and facilitating accommodated tests. In January of 2020 she was named the Associate Director of University Testing Services and the Disability Resource Center. In this joint role, Trisha supervises University Testing Services’ operations and provides leadership for areas within the DRC.
Originally from Michigan, Trisha received a bachelor’s degree in English, history, and teacher certification from Central Michigan University in 2012. She completed her master’s degree through UGA’s McBee Institute of Higher Education and is currently pursuing her PhD through UGA’s Learning, Leadership, and Organization Development program within the Mary Frances Early College of Education. Her research interests include disability identity and inclusion in higher education, qualitative research methods, and the future of higher education.
