Information Technology Manager Ian Simmons
Ian Simmons has worked at the DRC since July 2007. As the Information Technology Manager, he brings with him a solid blend of Information Technology principals to include Domain Servers, Application and Database support, Networking, Information Security, Management, and Desktop Support. Ian manages the DRC Assistive Technology Center and provides support to computer labs campus-wide regarding the latest assistive technology. Ian's career has lead him through many complex, technology-rich environments such as CNN.com where he served as the Email Product Manager; the Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access at Georgia Tech where he served as the Technology Coordinator; and the Barrow County Sheriff's Office, where he served as the Deputy Sheriff in charge of Information Technology. Ian's background in e-commerce, disability, and public safety has given him skills that have proved invaluable to the DRC. Ian looks forward to continuing to build-out the assistive technology infrastructure both within the DRC and contribute to the technology culture within the UGA campus at-large.
