- Do I have to take my exams at the DRC to receive accommodations?
- The instructor may be able to provide acceptable accommodations within the department. Students should plan to talk to instructors during office hours at the beginning of the semester, and make sure to bring professor letters and test accommodation forms.
- My professor cannot provide accommodations within the department. How do I schedule exams at the DRC?
- Students registered with the DRC should pick up their professor letters at the beginning of the semester, and meet with their instructors during regular office hours. Students should fill out the top of the blue test accommodations form before meeting with instructors, and fill out the actual exam information when meeting with instructors. Students should make sure that all test dates and times are filled in correctly, and that materials allowed during testing are clearly indicated. Instructors should fill out the method of pick up and return of tests. It is the student's responsibility to hand in the blue test accommodations form at least one week in advance of the first exam date. Only one blue form per class is necessary.
- Where will I be taking my exam if I test at the DRC?
-
The Test Accommodations Office is located in 205 Clark Howell Hall. We have a low distraction room and 5 private testing rooms located immediately adjacent to our office.
During busy testing times, we also make use of other space in the building, including conference rooms and labs on the first floor.
- What if I have a question for the professor during the exam?
- Unfortunately, when testing at our facilities you do not have guaranteed access to your professor or TA while you take your exam. If a member of our staff cannot reach your professor by phone, we have you complete a casenote that addresses your question. This casenote will be included with the completed exam.
- What if my test conflicts with my schedule due to my extended time accommodations?
- Students registered with the DRC who receive extended time on exams usually receive priority registration in order to avoid this situation. Students are encouraged to schedule classes with breaks between them in order to avoid this situation. If your extended time accommodation will make you late to your next class, you should discuss with your professor the possibility of taking the exam earlier or work with the professor to find an appropriate time for the exam.
- What if my professor changes the date of an exam?
- If a professor changes an exam date, you can ask the professor to fill out a Change of Test Date form with you, or you can have the professor email us at dstest@uga.edu to confirm the new time and date. If you ask your professor to email us, you should check with our office before the new test date to make sure that an email confirmation has been received.
- What if I miss an exam?
- If you are more than 20 minutes late to an exam scheduled at the Test Accommodations Office, we will be unable to administer the exam. We would advise you to contact your instructor immediately by going to where the class is taking the exam. We are, under no circumstances, allowed to administer an exam at a time other than that indicated on the blue testing accommodations form or otherwise indicated in writing from the professor.
- What can I bring with me to the exam? Will my belongings be secure?
- You are only allowed to take into the exam materials that are listed on your blue testing accommodations form. We have some lockers available in the hallway outside of our office. However, we cannot guarantee the security of your belongings while you are in an exam. For this reason, we ask students not to bring valuable items with them when they are testing. Hats, jackets, food, and beverages are not allowed in the exam rooms.
- What if I need accommodations for the Regents Reading or Writing exams?
- To register for the Regents exams with accommodations, you should meet with your disability specialist. Regents exams are administered only once a semester. The deadline for receipt of test accommodations forms for Regents exams is two weeks before the first date of administration.
- How much time in advance do I need to turn in my Blue Testing Accommodations Form?
- You MUST turn in the blue test accommodations forms at least one week prior to the first intended test date. Before finals, we require that students turn in new blue forms two weeks in advance of the final exam date.
