Alternative Media Services

Alternative text is a converted accessible format of a student's textbook, required readings or syllabus. An example of formats offered by the Alternative Media Services include: Electronic Text (e-text), Digital Audio, Large Print and Braille.

Many students with print disabilities depend on alternative text to accommodate their understanding of the physical printed material required for their courses.

The conversion of printed material can involve computers, high speed scanners, optical character recognition (OCR), audio encoding, voice recognition software, Braille embossers, copiers and printers.

Given the tremendous amount of production involved in converting certain materials, Alternative Media Services ask that you complete your Alternative Text request immediately after priority registration.
