Procedure to Request a Reduced Course Load

Student Responsibilities:
  1. Register with the Disability Resource Center (DRC) by following appropriate DRC procedures.
  2. Provide documentation to verify disability and validate request for a reduced course load as an accommodation.
  3. Request a reduced course load accommodation through your disability specialist.
  4. If request is approved, student is responsible for forwarding letter from the DRC to the appropriate office(s) or department(s).
  5. Identify and contact any agency, office or department (University or non-University) about the reduced course load decision as necessary to your circumstances.
Disability Resource Center Responsibilities:
  1. Disability Specialist will present student's request, along with documentation, to other professional staff to determine if request is an appropriate accommodation.
  2. If approved, provide letter in support of reduced course load accommodation to student.

Note: Letter in support of reduced course load accommodation from the DRC will not override the policies of any particular agency, office or department.
