Procedure for Receiving Accommodations
- Student Responsibilities:

- Contact the Disability Resource Center to obtain appropriate paperwork to register with DRC.
- Complete the DRC Intake Form.
- Provide appropriate documentation that includes a statement of diagnosis and suggested accommodations to validate request for academic and cocurricular accommodations. Documentation must be current and provided by a qualified health professional such as a physician, audiologist, psychologist, psychiatrist, or neuropsychologist.
- Follow up with the Disability Resource Center to confirm that your documentation has been received.
- Meet with your assigned Disability Specialist to request accommodations.
- Follow all time deadlines and procedures necessary to receive your specific accommodations as established by the DRC.
- Contact your Disability Specialist prior to the beginning of each semester in order to discuss any necessary changes in your accommodations.
- Contact your Disability Specialist immediately should you encounter any difficulty or other concern regarding your accommodations.
- Abide by the University's standards and guidelines for behavior in the Student Conduct Regulations as stated by the Office of Judicial Programs.
- Adhere to the Academic Honesty Policies as stated by the University of Georgia Office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs (OVPAA).
- Disability Resource Center Responsibilities:

- Review the student's documentation and meet with the student as necessary to determine eligibility for receiving accommodations. Staff with other professional staff members and approve accommodations as appropriate for each student.
- Meet with assigned student to discuss the approved accommodations and the procedures necessary to obtain them.
- Research and prepare paperwork (such as "Professor Letters") as necessary to facilitate receipt of appropriate accommodations for which the student is approved.
- Assist the student with the accommodations process.
- Assist the student in resolving problems that may occur during the testing accommodations process.
- Interact with UGA faculty, staff and non-UGA professionals on student's behalf as appropriate (such as DRS counselors, other colleges or graduate programs).
- Maintain records of interactions with student related to the administration of accommodations.
Note: The DRC is responsible for providing reasonable accommodations in a timely manner. Noncompliance on the part of the student with the procedures stated herein may result in delays in or denial of the provision of accommodations.
