Procedure for Requesting Special Housing Assignments or Accommodations

Student Responsibilities:
  1. Students requesting special housing assignments or accommodations need to register early with the DRC due to the need for planning.
  2. If accepted to the University, students should immediately register with the Department of Housing and the DRC so special assignments and accommodations can be coordinated.
  3. Students must adhere to the Department of Housing's registration procedures and deadlines.
  4. Students should be prepared to discuss specific housing needs based on the functional limitations of their disability.
Disability Resource Center Responsibilities:
  1. Determine if the student's request is an appropriate accommodation under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) during the interdisciplinary team meeting.
  2. Submit the Housing Accommodation memo to the appropriate housing administrator.

Note: The DRC's recommended housing accommodations do not override the policies of any particular agency, office or department.
