Services for Students with Learning Disabilities

A learning disability (LD) affects the manner in which individuals take in, sort, retrieve, and express information. Research has shown learning disabilities continue throughout one's life span and manifests by deficits in one or more of the following areas: oral expression, written expression, listening comprehension, basic reading skills, reading comprehension, math calculation and/or math problem solving. The Disability Resource Center has a staff of professional disability specialists to work with students who have learning disabilities to provide reasonable and appropriate accommodations.

Eligibility

Services students may be eligible for include:

  1. Auxiliary Aid Services
  2. Regularly scheduled meetings to monitor academic progress and issues related to the disability
  3. Assistance in consulting with faculty to advocate for student needs
  4. Student support groups
  5. Priority registration
  6. Access to the Assistive Technology Lab
  7. Tutorial referrals
  8. Referral as needed to other campus resources
  9. Referral as needed to community agencies and resources
